Skipjack Prices
- Bangkok - Skipjack $1050 m/ton. This is a 5% fall on February prices. Reports say that market fell below $1050 for Skipjack in the Maldives to packaging plants in Thailand. These low prices were an isolated sale but did cause a ripple in the market.
Yellowfin Prices
- Bangkok - Yellowfin prices $1500 per m/ton for 10kgs and up
- Spain - Yellowfin prices $1700 m/ton 10kgs up
News form the tuna fishing fleets
- US tuna imports down in Jan 2009 at 33k metric tons vs 40k metrictons in 2008. 80% of this is made up in canned tuna

- Spanish and French tuna vessels near the Seychelles are coming under increased pressure from pirates, as the Somali pirates move into the southern oceans
